BELOIT, Wis. (Apr. 7, 2015) -Â The North Central College women's lacrosse team established a new benchmark in the program's history on Tuesday, emerging in the final few minutes to score a 11-10 victory at Beloit College to win a school-record sixth straight game.
The Cardinals (7-1) opened the game by forging a 5-1 lead in the first 20 minutes, getting two free-position goals from Bianca Perri and a third from Anicia Mattingly. Beloit notched three straight goals to get back into contention, then scored the first three goals of the second half to take its first lead at 7-6.
After North Central's Gina Fisher tied the score with 20:15 to play, the Buccaneers (5-5) got two goals from Michelle Dillon to lead once again at 9-7. Mattingly and Kassie Whaling scored in succession to tie the score once again, though Beloit's Libby Storick put the hosts in front once again by scoring with 6:31 on the clock.
Fisher came up with yet another game-tying goal with 3:07 to play, then broke through the Beloit defense for what turned out to be the game-winning goal with just 1:10 left in the game. Fisher led all scorers with four goals, while goalkeeper Kat Schultz tied a season high with eight saves.Storick and Dillon scored three goals each for Beloit.
