Auggie lacrosse closes season with win over Beloit

MINNEAPOLIS -- Helena Nguyen (FY, Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) and Jesse Heusinkveld (FY, Mound, Minn./Mound-Westonka HS) each had five-point performances, with four goals and an assist, leading the Augsburg College women's lacrosse team in a 17-7, season-ending win over Beloit College (Wis.) on Sunday morning at Edor Nelson Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Heusinkveld scored four goals and Nguyen scored three goals in the first half, as Augsburg built a 13-3 halftime advantage.
•
 Shelby Brion (SO, Clearwater, Minn./Monticello HS) also scored four goals for the Auggies in the game, with Delaney Everett (FY, Brooklyn Center, Minn./Champlin Park HS) adding two goals.
•
 Dezera Sieracki (SO, Wyoming, Minn./Centennial HS), Rachel Frantz (SO, Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) and Natalie Shaw (SO, Robbinsdale, Minn./Cooper HS) had a goal and assist apiece, with Katie Luschwitz (SO, Whitney Point, N.Y.) and Ashley Pettipiece (FY, Mounds, View, Minn./Irondale HS) adding assists.
• Augsburg outshot Beloit by a 28-16 margin, including a 19-5 advantage in the second half. Augsburg had 15 draw controls to Beloit's 11, and collected 19 ground balls to Beloit's 13.
• Augsburg was very efficient on clearing attempts, converting 18-of-21, compared to Beloit's 13-of-21. Augsburg also scored four goals on nine free-position attempts.

 Everett had four draw controls and caused two turnivers, while Heusinkveld had three draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers. She also scored two goals on free-position attempts.
• Goalie Marissa Guillou (FY, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) had five saves for the Auggies.

• Everett finished her first Auggie season with team highs of 34 goals and 40 points -- one of seven Auggies to record double-digit goal totals this season. She also had 42 draw controls and team-high totals of 24 caused turnovers and 34 ground balls.
• Nguyen scored 28 goals and had 32 points on the season. Pettipiece scored 21 goals and had 27 points.
• Brion scored 19 goals with 24 points on the year, while Sieracki had 18 goals and 23 points, to go along with 26 draw controls and 24 ground balls.
• Frantz and Lexi Halvorson (So, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) scored 15 goals each, with Halvorson leading the team with 49 draw controls. Halvorson had 28 ground balls, while Frantz had 25.

FOR THE FOES
• Hannah Drexler scored three goals with an assist for the Buccaneers, while Michelle Dillon also scored three goals. Celeste Jenkins had the other Beloit goal.
• Marie Bonine collected 10 saves for Beloit.
