Men's Lacrosse Defeats Augustana (Ill.), 11-9, on April 16

Red Men Travel to Mount St. Joseph on Saturday

Box Score The Carthage College men's lacrosse team (12-4, 6-1 Midwest Lacrosse Conference) defeated conference-opponent Augustana College (Ill., 8-4, 5-2 MLC), 11-9, on Wednesday night, April 16 at Thorsen-Lucken Field in Rock Island, Ill.  Carthage is tied for second place in the league with Concordia University (Wis.), both with 6-1 marks, and trailing first-place Aurora University at 7-0.
 
The Red Men led the Vikings, 3-2, after the first period, 6-4 at halftime and 9-7 going into the final period.  Augustana pulled to within a goal, 10-9, with 4:34 left on a score by Scott Davis, but Carthage's Billy Lane found the back of the net with a goal at 1:40 to close out the scoring.
 
Jack Meachum (Sr., Naperville, Ill./North) led the Red Men with three goals and seven ground balls.  Danny Morse (Sr., O'Fallon, Ill/O'Fallon Township) had two goals and three ground balls, Timothy Francis (Jr., Costa Mesa, Calif./Huntington Beach) two goals, Billy Lane (Fr., Centennial, Colo./Kent Denver) two goals and two ground balls and Jered Ferrell (So., Trabuco Canyon, Calif./El Toro) two assists.
 
On Saturday, April 19, the Red Men journey to Cincinnati, Ohio, to take on conference-opponent the College of Mount St. Joseph (2-12, 1-6 MLC)n in a 1 p.m., EDT contest at Schueler Field.
