IWU Women's Lacrosse Loses First-Ever OT Contest

BELOIT, Wis. -- The Illinois Wesleyan women's lacrosse team scored a late goal to send the game into the first-ever overtime in school history before losing to Beloit College, 9-8, on Wednesday, March 25 at Strong Stadium in Beloit, Wis.

The Titans lost for the second straight time and slipped to 5-4 this season while the Buccaneers improved to 4-3.

Beloit led at halftime 4-3 and held an 8-7 advantage late in the contest before IWU sophomore captain Maggie Krause hurled in a goal to tie the game at 8-8 and force the 6-minute extra session. Graham finished with three goals while junior Lauren Pavich added two. One goal was scored by freshmen Clarke Rich and Sophia Sodolski and junior Maisie Cox.

Freshman Claire Quist played all 66 minutes in goal for the Titans for the first time since March 10 at Oglethorpe and made 15 saves against 24 shots.

What's Next?
Illinois Wesleyan plays its first-ever College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin match at 1 p.m. Saturday at Tucci Stadium against Carroll University. The Pioneers are 0-4 overall and 0-2 in CCIW play already this spring.
