MLC Report (Week 5) - Benedictine Improves to 5-2 on the Season

WAUKESHA, WI - The Benedictine University men's lacrosse team stretched its winning streak to three-straight following a pair of wins last week.  The Eagles (5-2, 1-0 MLC) won at Birmingham Southern and opened the conference schedule with a win at home over Fontbonne.

Junior attacker Blake Keenan (Schaumburg, Ill./H.S.) led the Eagles offense during the week. The junior scored a single-game school record with seven goals in a 23-6 win over Fontbonne to open MLC play, adding three ground balls, an assist, and three caused turnovers in the win. 

Keenan added five goals with an assist and a ground ball in a 14-9 win over Birmingham Southern.

Benedictine will travel to Cornell College for a 7PM start on Wednesday and will return home for a match with Southwestern (TX) on Friday.

In other action...

Beloit College (2-3, 1-0 MLC) kicked off the MLC slate with a 10-6 win over MSOE Saturday.  Junior attacker Aidan Whinnery (Middleton, Wis.) led the Bucs with four goals, one assist, and two ground balls in the win.

Concordia University (3-3, 0-0 MLC) posted a narrow 7-6 win in non-conference action at Transylvania last Thursday.  Junior Marino Best (Nanaimo, British Columbia/Wellington) led the way with four goals, while Shawn Teixeira (Calgary, Alberta/Central Memorial) scored the game-winner with just over two minutes remaining in the contest.

Aurora University (3-5, 0-0 MLC) won its only match last week, beating Elmhurst 15-5 at home.  Sophomore Bailey Smith (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) and senior Nolan Miller (Indianapolis, Ind./Chatard) each scored three goals to lead the Spartans.
