MLC Report (Week 8) - Aurora Joins Benedictine in MLC Tourney Field

WAUKESHA, WI - Aurora University joined Benedictine University in the MLC tournament field, clinching a spot with a MLC win last week.  The Spartans (9-6, 4-0 MLC) stretched their win streak to five-straight following wins over Cornell College and Augustana.

Senior attacker Garrett Rosiek (Blue Bell, Penn./ WissAhickon) scored four goals with five assists, three ground  balls, and one caused turnover in a 20-4 win over Cornell College, locking up a spot in the upcoming MLC tournament. 

Rosiek added three goals and three assists in a 12-9 non-conference win over Augustana Saturday. 

Aurora will play host to Concordia University and Wittenberg this week.

In other action...

Benedictine University (10-3, 4-0 MLC) saw its seven-game win streak come to a close with a 12-9 loss to Elmhurst.   The Eagles bounced back following the loss to beat Hanover 15-5 on Saturday.  Despite not playing any MLC matches last week, the Eagles still locked up a spot in the upcoming MLC tournament (Apr. 29 & May 2).

Concordia University (7-5, 3-1 MLC) earned a pair of league wins last week, beating MSOE and Fontbonne. Junior midfielder Danny Bundra (Lake Zurich, Ill./H.S.) tallied 10 ground balls and one caused turnover in a 14-5 win over MSOE and 13 ground balls in a 26-6 win over Fontbonne.  For the week, Bundra won 37 of his 43 face-offs (86%) and totaled 23 ground balls to anchor the Falcons defensive effort.

Beloit College (3-6, 2-3 MLC) snapped a three-game skid with a 10-8 win over Cornell College Saturday. Junior Aidan Whinnery (Middleton, Wis./H.S.) led the Bucs with four goals, two assists, and two ground balls in the league win. Beloit can secure a MLC tourney spot with a win over Fontbonne tonight.

MSOE (5-7, 1-3 MLC) bounced back from the loss to Concordia and beat Dubuque 16-2 on the road Saturday. Senior Brent Finnegan (Woodbury, Minn./Hill-Murray) led the Raiders with two goals and six assists in the victory.
