Aurora Captures Third-Straight MLC Tournament Title

AURORA, IL – After winning a third-straight regular season title in 2015, Aurora claimed its third-consecutive Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) Tournament title with a 14-11 win over Concordia (Wis.) Saturday.

With the win, the Spartans earned the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Chamionship. The full field will be announced on Sunday, May 3 at 9PM (EST) via NCAA.com.

The No. 1 seeded Spartans advanced to the title game with a 24-5 victory over fourth-seed Beloit on Wednesday. In the other semifinal match, the Falcons defeated second-seed Benedictine 16-8.

In Saturday's championship, senior midfielder Max Obriecht (Naperville, Ill./North) scored three goals with one assist, nine ground balls, and two caused turnovers to lead Aurora.  Concordia received four goals and one ground ball from junior attacker Marino Best (Nanaimo, British Columbia/Wellington) in the loss.

This was Aurora's fourth-straight appearance in the tournament final while Concordia made its first appearance in the championship match.
