MONMOUTH, Illinois -- Chris Klaiber -- a former NCAA Division I student-athlete with extensive coaching experience, most recently at the Division II level -- will take over reins of the Monmouth College men's lacrosse program this fall.

A native of New York State, Klaiber comes to Monmouth directly from an assistant coaching position at Division II Adams State University in Alamosa, Colo., where he earned his Master's degree in Human Performance and Physical Education. Klaiber assisted the Grizzlies men's lacrosse program in a wide variety of areas ranging from recruiting and game management to monitoring the student-athletes' academic performance. Twelve Grizzlies were named all-conference during Klaiber's stint at ASU, including the 2016 Freshman of the Year and the 2017 Goalie of the Year.

"I'm very excited to get started in this new stage of my career," said Klaiber. "We'll continue to build on the great foundation already in place at Monmouth. The team made good progress in a tough league last spring and we'll continue to scrap for the entire game and move forward as we enter Season 2."

"We are pleased to have a young man of Chris Klaiber's caliber join the Monmouth College family as head men's lacrosse coach," said college president Clarence R. Wyatt. "Chris has the experience and enthusiasm to continue the momentum established in the program's first year, and to build men's lacrosse into a proud and important part of the College's athletics and recreational experience."

Klaiber earned his undergraduate degree in History at Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg Md. A two-year starter at goalkeeper for the Mountaineers, Klaiber posted 26 career starts and more than 1500 minutes in goal.Monmouth opened and closed their inaugural season last spring with convincing wins and had two members named to the Midwest Lacrosse Conference all-conference team.
