Marian University's Connor Houlihan and Benedictine University's Sam Sanko have been named the Midwest Lacrosse Conference offensive and defensive players of the week for events of Feb. 12-18, as selected by the league's sports information directors.
Houlihan (Bridgeview, Ill.) had a six-point week to lead the Sabre offense as they opened their inaugural season. The rookie attacker had a five-point game against the University of Dallas where he scored four goals, one with a man-advantage, and an assist. He also scooped up eight ground balls and forced a pair of turnovers against the Crusaders.
Sanko (Naperville, Ill.) set a single-game program record by making 21 saves in the Eagles' season-opening loss to Carthage College.
