Benedictine University's Nick Wood and Mateo Salceda have been named the Midwest Lacrosse Conference offensive and defensive players of the week for events of April 23-29, as selected by the league's sports information directors.
Wood (Naperville, Ill.) totaled 10 goals and two assists in a 2-0 week that helped Benedictine match the single-season school record for wins. The junior attacker had five goals and an assist in each game. He added six groundballs against Concordia University Chicago.
Salceda (Delafield, Wis.) won 80 percent of faceoffs in the 2-0 week and picked up 20 groundballs, 10 in each victory. The rookie midfielder was 13-for-14 on faceoffs against CUC and 16-of-22 at Monmouth College.
