AURORA, Ill. -- The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division III At-Large teams and Aurora University senior Joey Lucchesi was selected as a Second-Team All-America honoree.

A senior English major, Lucchesi was named a 2018 Midwest Lacrosse Conference First-Team All-Conference honoree and academic all-district selection earlier this spring. He wrapped up his two years at AU in 2018 by leading the Spartan men's lacrosse program to a school record 19 wins as the teams leading scorer. He accounted for 78 points, 63 goals with 10 of those coming on the man-up. He added 15 assists, 42 ground balls and converted on 63.1-percent of his shots on goal (63-of-99).

In his two years as a Spartan, he has been named a Midwest Lacrosse Conference and AU Scholar-Athlete in 2016-2017 and will be again in 2017-2018 when those teams are announced. The AU men's lacrosse team concluded the 2018 season with a 19-2 overall record, the sixth straight Midwest Lacrosse Conference Championship and NCAA Division III Championship appearance.

The CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-America teams are selected by CoSIDA member sports information directors based on the student-athletes' academic prowess while being a steady influence on their respective athletic field. To be considered for the honor, the nominated student-athletes are required to maintain a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade-point average throughout their academic career at their respective institution.
