Coaches' Poll Tabs CUW For MLC Title

2019 MLC Preseason Poll

Concordia University Wisconsin has been picked to win the Midwest Lacrosse Conference championship according to the preseason poll, voted on by the league's head coaches.

CUW received six of the 12 first-place votes and 115 total points in the preseason poll.

The Falcons finished a game back of first place last year with an 8-1 record in conference play (13-6 overall) and also were runners-up in the MLC Tournament. They earned a share of the MLC title the season prior.

Defending champion of both the regular season and tournament, Aurora University, was second in the poll with 113 points and five of the top votes, while Benedictine University was picked third with 99 points.

MSOE was fourth with 94 points and the remaining first-place vote, Beloit College was fifth with 73 and Marian University sixth with 64.

Cornell College was tabbed seventh with 60 points, Monmouth College eighth with 57 and league-newcomer University of Northwestern-St. Paul was ninth with 45.

Concordia University Chicago followed in 10th with 30 points, Fontbonne University 11th with 28 and the league's additional new member, North Central University, filled the last spot with 14.

The MLC's regular season standings determine the teams that qualify for the four-team conference tournament, while the tournament champion receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA III Championship Tournament.
