Marian University's Colt Robertson and Aurora University's Phillip Gianelle have been named the Midwest Lacrosse Conference offensive and defensive players of the week for events of April 22-28, as selected by the league's sports information directors.
Robertson (Reno, Nev.) produced 21 points over the course of three games to lead the Sabres to a 3-0 week. The rookie attacker had a hand in six of the nine Marian goals against MSOE and then had an 11-point performance against Beloit College with seven goals and four assists. In total, Robertson had 12 goals with nine assists to go with four ground balls for the week.
Gianelle (Salisbury, Md.) allowed one goal over two games as the Spartans defeated Monmouth College in a shutout, 16-0, and Beloit College, 30-3, both on the road. The rookie goalie made nine saves in the winning efforts and continued to improve on his nationally leading goals against average.
