Jussila, Howe, Murphy Earn MLC Weekly Awards

MINNEAPOLIS— Cornell College's Kyle Jussila received Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) offensive player of the week recognition, while Cornell's Justin Howe and Lake Forest College's Conor Murphy both received league defensive players of the week, for events March 29- April 3 as selected by the league's head coaches. 

Jussila (Elk River, Minn.) had four of the eight goals in Saturday's win over Northwestern. He opened the contest with the first three goals and had the eventual game-winning goal with just over a minute left. Jussila also had three caused turnovers. He had one goal in Wednesday's loss to Augustana. 

Howe (Sedalia, Colo.) had eight caused turnovers and eight ground balls to help the Rams earn the victory over the Eagles Saturday. His caused turnovers set a new single-game best for Cornell. Howe added one ground ball and two caused turnovers against the Auggies.

Murphy (Springfield, Mass.) held the league leader in goals and assists to one goal and two assists in Saturday's win against Northland. He had four caused turnovers and three ground balls.

This is the second career MLC honor for Jussila, and first for Howe and Murphy.

The MLC is comprised of NCAA Division III institutions located throughout the Midwest including Cornell (Mt. Vernon, Iowa), Dubuque (Dubuque, Iowa), Lake Forest (Lake Forest, Ill.), Monmouth (Monmouth, Ill.), North Central (Minneapolis, Minn.), Northland (Ashland, Wis.), and Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.).
