Northland sweeps MLC weekly awards

MINNEAPOLIS— Northland College's Jackson Breton and Jack Craycroft earned Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) offensive and defensive player of the week honors, respectively, for events April 10-16, as selected by the league's head coaches.

Breton (Junior, Stoughton, Mich.) scored four goals, added two ground balls, and one caused turnover in Saturday's 7-5 win over Northwestern.

"Jackson stepped up for us over and over again this weekend as he scored four of our seven goals," said head coach Jakob Wohlford. "When we were struggling to get anything going, he stepped up and carried the offense and helped leads us to a win this weekend with his timely goals."

Craycroft (Sophomore; Ankeny, Iowa) had six ground balls and four caused turnovers in Saturday's victory.

"It was hard to pick just one player from the defensive side this week as we only gave up five goals Saturday, but Jack stepped up for us delivering his best performance of the season with his stats and holding his individual match up, who was their leading attackman to zero goals and only one shot," said Wohlford.

This is the first career MLC honor for the duo.

The MLC is comprised of NCAA Division III institutions located throughout the Midwest including Cornell (Mt. Vernon, Iowa), Dubuque (Dubuque, Iowa), Lake Forest (Lake Forest, Ill.), Monmouth (Monmouth, Ill.), Northland (Ashland, Wis.), and Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.).
