Lake Forest wins first MLC Tournament Championship

LAKE FOREST, Ill.-- Lake Forest College defeated the University of Dubuque 10-9 in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) Tournament championship Saturday afternoon at Farwell Field. 

The Foresters won their first MLC tournament championship and received the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament next week. 

The Spartans knotted the game at 9-9 with 1:25 remaining in the fourth quarter. Lake Forest's Ryan Dousevicz connected on a pass from John Casey with three seconds remaining for the game-winner. 

This is the first championship under head coach Phil Dodson in the Foresters' second year of membership in the MLC, and second season as a varsity program.

Conor Murphy was named the Tournament MVP for his efforts over the two games.

The NCAA selection show will be Sunday, May 7 at 8 p.m.
