Trollop, Greiskalns earn MLC men’s weekly awards

MINNEAPOLIS— Northland College's Brodie Trollop and Cornell College's Torii Greiskalns were named the Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) men's offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for events March 4-10, as selected by the league's head coaches. 

Trollop (Black Earth, Wis.) had eight goals on 12 shots on goal, and had three assists over the three games on the week for the LumberJacks. He added eight ground balls and four caused turnovers. "Brodie came up huge for us time after time for us this week, as we would look to him to give us a spark offensively in three close games and each time he did," said head coach Jakob Wohlford. 

Greiskalns (Oakdale, Minn.) had 22 ground balls, 11 caused turnovers over the two games on the week for the Rams. "Torii was dominate in both of our games this week," said head coach Lane Zierten. "On Thursday, he posted eight ground balls and four caused turnovers playing against Aurora's top offensive player. On Sunday against Anderson, he had 14 ground balls and seven caused turnovers and was also huge for us in the clear game helping push transition and clearing goals."

This is the first career MLC weekly honor for the duo.

The MLC is comprised of NCAA Division III institutions located throughout the Midwest including Cornell (Mt. Vernon, Iowa), Dubuque (Dubuque, Iowa), Lake Forest (Lake Forest, Ill.), Northland (Ashland, Wis.), and Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.).
