Concordia Wins School's First MWLC Tournament Crown

MEQUON, WI – After winning a first regular season title in 2015, Concordia claimed its first ever Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) Tournament title with a 17-7 win over Aurora Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Falcons (13-6, 7-0 MWLC) earned the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship. The full field will be announced on Sunday, May 3 at 9:30PM (EST) via NCAA.com.

The No. 1 seeded Falcons advanced to the title game with a 23-3 victory over fourth-seed Benedictine on Friday. In the other semifinal match, the Spartans (11-7, 6-1 MWLC) defeated three-seed Beloit 10-6.

In Saturday's championship, freshman Allison Kurek (Chicago, Ill./Nazareth Academy) scored five goals with two assists, four ground balls, eight draw controls, and five caused turnovers, while senior Hayley Peppers (Franktown, Colo./Ponderosa) added five goals with six ground balls to lead CUW. 

Aurora received two goals and two assists from junior Rachel Cochran (Kalamazoo, Mich./Mattawan) in the loss.

This was CUW's and Auroa's first ever appearance in the tournament final.
