MWLC Report (Week 5) - CUW Improves to 4-0 in League Play

WAUKESHA, WI - The Concordia University (Wis.) women's lacrosse team claimed a pair of conference wins during the week and remained perfect on the season.  The Falcons (5-0, 4-0 MWLC) beat Aurora (1-5, 0-1 MWLC) and Loras (2-2, 1-2 MWLC) on the road and continue to hold the top spot in the conference standings.

Sophomore Allison Kurek (Chicago, Ill./Nazareth Academy) finished with six goals and five assists, to go along with 10 ground balls, 15 draw controls and 10 caused turnovers. Kurek led CUW during a 15-9 win at Aurora with a goal, two assists, three ground balls, five draw controls and two caused turnovers. Kurek then tallied five goals and three assists during an 18-1 victory at Loras.

Senior Sabrina Boehlke (Random Lake, Wis./Kewaskum) had two ground balls, two draw controls, two caused turnovers, and a career-high five goals in CUW's win at Aurora. Boehlke followed that effort with six ground balls, one draw control and four caused turnovers in the win at Loras. 

Concordia is scheduled to face Augustana on Saturday.

In other action...

Benedictine University (4-2, 2-0 MWLC) won at home against Olivet and beat Wartburg in conference action last week. Senior Samantha Link (St. Charles, Ill./East) scored seven goals with one assist in the 19-4 win over Olivet.  Link added four more goals in Monday's 8-5 conference win at Wartburg.

Augsburg College (5-2, 2-1 MWLC) finished the week 2-1 overall, including a 16-1 conference win at Concordia Chicago (0-8, 0-3 MWLC). The Auggies had 11 different players score a goal in the win.

Illinois Tech (4-2, 2-1 MWLC) claimed another conference win, beating Beloit (1-7, 1-3 MWLC) 14-1 on Saturday. Freshman Alyssa DeLuca (Wrentham, Mass./King Philip) led the Scarlet Hawks with six goals, one assist and three ground balls in the triumph.

Wartburg College (5-3, 2-1 MWLC) had a busy week, finishing the week with a 2-2 mark.  The Knights beat Carroll (Wis.) and Cornell College (0-5, 0-2 MWLC), while falling to Benedictine and Dubuque. Senior Megan Howe (Monona, Iowa/MFL MarMac) scored five goals in the Knights' 14-4 win over Carroll (Wis.) and added seven goals, one assist and four ground balls in a 15-6 conference win over Cornell College. Howe's seven goal performance against Cornell College set a new single game school record.

Loras College (2-2, 1-2 MWLC) bounced back from the loss to CUW to be Hilbert 20-14 in non-conference action. Senior Kaitlyn Kutsch (Dubuque, Iowa/Wahlert Catholic) netted 10 goals with two assists, four ground balls and 18 draw controls in the win.
