MWLC Report (Week 6) - Aurora Nets League Wins Over Cornell & Wartburg

WAUKESHA, WI - The Aurora University women's lacrosse team claimed a pair of conference wins during the week.  The Spartans (3-5, 2-1 MWLC) beat Cornell College (0-7, 0-3 MWLC) and Wartburg (5-4, 2-2 MWLC) at home to move up the standings.

Junior midfielder Lauren Whitfield (Rockford, Mich./H.S.) scored six goals with three assists, two ground balls and two caused turnovers as the Spartans beat Cornell 18-0 and Wartburg 15-4.

Senior Danielle Morgan (Mukilteo, Wash./Kamiak) added 13 ground balls, five caused turnovers, four goals and three assists in the two wins.

Aurora is scheduled to face North Central, Loras and Dubuque this week.

In other action...

Augsburg College (6-2, 2-1 MWLC) pulled out a 12-10 win at home over Hamline in non-league play Tuesday evening. Freshman Sheala Osborne (West St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) led the Auggies with four goals, five ground balls, two draw controls and four caused turnovers in the win.

Illinois Tech (5-2, 2-1 MWLC) slipped past St. Mary's (IN) 12-11 in non-conference play last week. Freshman defender Isabella Rubin (Concord, N.H./H.S.) scored twice, while leading the team with seven ground balls, three draw controls and one caused turnover in the win.  IIT limited St. Mary's to only three second half goals as the Scarlet Hawks overcame an 8-6 halftime deficit.
