WAUKESHA, WI - The Benedictine University women's lacrosse team claimed wins over Loras (3-8, 1-4 MWLC) and Cornell College (0-11, 0-6 MWLC) during the week. The Eagles (6-5, 4-1 MWLC) currently sit in a four-way tie for second in the league standings.
Junior Becca Gullett (Lockport, Ill./H.S.) matched a single game school record with seven goals and added nine ground balls, four draw controls and one caused turnover in an 18-7 win over Loras.
Gullett followed that effort with four goals, two assists, eight ground balls, seven draw controls and two caused turnovers in a 19-1 win over Cornell College.
For the week, Gullett averaged 5.5 goals, 1.0 assist, 8.5 ground balls, 5.5 draw controls and 1.5 caused turnovers per match.
Benedictine will travel to Concordia (Wis.) for a 4:00 PM conference match Saturday.
In other MWLC action...
Concordia University (Wis.) (9-1, 5-0 MWLC) ran its win streak to four-straight following a 13-9 non-conference win over Hamline. Sophomore Allison Kurek (Chicago, Ill./Nazareth Academy) racked up six caused turnovers, six ground balls, seven draw controls and five goals in the victory.
Illinois Tech (9-3, 4-1 MWLC) saw its win streak reach four-straight following wins over Elmhurst, Cornell College and Hamline. Freshman Isabella Rubin (Concord, N.H./H.S.) led the Scarlet Hawks during the week with eight goals, four assists and 20 ground balls in the three wins.
Augsburg College (8-3, 4-1 MWLC) moved into the four-way tie for second with a 12-10 win over Wartburg (5-7, 2-4 MWLC). In the win over the Knights, sophomore Helena Nguyen (Maple Grove, Minn./H.S.) scored three goals to lead the Auggies.
Aurora University (6-6, 4-1 MWLC) joins Benedictine, Illinois Tech and Augsburg in second place following an 18-0 win over Concordia Chicago (0-12, 0-5 MWLC). Junior Kenny Hughes (Calgary, Alberta/Winston Churchill) scored six goals with two assists and five ground balls in the win over the Cougars.
