CUW's Kurek named IWLCA All-Great Lakes Region Second Team

GRAND LAKE, CO – Allison Kurek earned Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Great Lakes Region Second Team, the organization announced on Tuesday.

The sophomore midfielder was named the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year, along with being on the All-MWLC First Team. Her efforts helped the Falcons win a program record 15 games, as well as the MWLC regular season and tournament titles. It was the second-straight year she took home major honors.

She set the program's season record for ground balls, caused turnovers and game-winning goals; as well as the game record for caused turnovers. Kurek currently holds six career per game records.

Kurek paced the Falcons with 82 points, 65 goals, eight free-position goals, 91 ground balls, 77 draw control, 115 shots, 92 shots on goal and 65 caused turnovers. She tallied a team-best five game-winning goal. Kurek also assisted on 17 markers, the second most on the team.

She finished the 2016 season with five or more points nine times, including scoring at least five goals in eight contests. Kurek had 32 goals during a six-game stretch from April 2-27. She also recorded five or more ground balls 10 times, five or more draw control wins in nine games and three or more caused turnovers on 12 occasions.

Kurek is the second player in program history to earn All-IWLCA All-Great Lakes Region honors.
