MWLC Selects Players Of The Week For April 22-28

Illinois Tech's Shanie Scoles and Augsburg University's Christina Nelson have been named the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference offensive and defensive players of the week for events of April 22-28, as selected by the league's sports information directors.

Scoles (Mission Viejo, Calif.) had 17 goals and one assist in two victories last week, while also tallying 20 draw controls, five caused turnovers, and four ground balls. The sophomore midfielder had a nine-goal, 10-draw match at Loras College Wednesday, before scoring eight more times and winning 10 more draws against Beloit College Saturday.

Nelson (Bloomington, Minn.) recorded 31 draw controls, 15 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers as the Auggies went 2-1. The senior defender/midfielder recorded 12 draw controls with four ground balls and four caused turnovers as Augsburg topped Loras, 20-11, Tuesday. She tied her single-game draw control record with 15, while also recording six ground balls and five caused turnovers in a 13-11 win at Concordia University Wisconsin Saturday. Sunday, Nelson has four draw controls, five ground balls and two caused turnovers in a 16-11 nonconference loss at UW-River Falls.
