Greiskalns, Smith Earn MWLC Weekly Awards

MINNEAPOLIS— Wartburg College's Bri Greiskalns and the University of Northwestern's Cara Smith were named the  Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) offensive and defensive players of the week respectively, for events March 14-20, as selected by the league's sports information directors.

Greiskalns (Oakdale, Minn.) had 11 goals on the week, which included a season-high six goals in Sunday's win over Marian. She had a season-best nine shots on goal in the 12-11 overtime win against Clarke Tuesday.

Smith (Watertown, Wis.) led the Eagles with 11 caused turnovers and added 11 ground balls on the week. Her week was highlighted in the 15-8 win against Edgewood with seven caused turnovers, tallied eight ground balls, and added four goals. 

This is the second MWLC weekly honor for both players. Greiskalns was previously honored in week one of this current season, and Smith was selected in week seven of last year.

The MWLC is comprised of NCAA Division III institutions located throughout the Midwest including Augsburg (Minneapolis), Cornell (Mt. Vernon, Iowa), Hamline (St. Paul, Minn.), Lake Forest (Lake Forest, Ill.), Monmouth (Monmouth, Ill.), Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.), and Wartburg (Waverly, Iowa).
