Lake Forest College Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Maggie Zentgraf announced Monday that she has accepted an offer to fill the same position at Butler University, a member of the NCAA Division I Big East Conference.

Zentgraf was named Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Coach of the Year after leading the 2022 Foresters to a league title in their first season as a varsity sport. She was hired in July of 2020 and spent the 2020-21 academic year recruiting athletes for the program's inaugural season.

Lake Forest finished 2022 with an overall record of 11-4 and a perfect 5-0 mark in league play. Five members of the squad were named first team all-conference, including the MWLC Attacker of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and Rookie of the Year. The Foresters averaged nearly 14 goals per game while allowing fewer than nine.

"It has been such an amazing experience working at Lake Forest College, began Zentgraf. Everyone — coaches, administrators, admissions, students, staff — had a hand in helping kick off an epic year for this new team. I am very grateful to Jackie Slaats and Jim Catanzaro for giving me the opportunity to lead this program. The Forester women's lacrosse team is one of a kind!"

"We are extremely appreciative of Maggie for laying the foundation of a new varsity sport at the College and leading the team to such an exciting and successful first season. We wish her well as she transitions to Butler," commented Lake Forest College Director of Athletics Nicki Pieart. " I am confident that her efforts in building the program will lead to even greater accomplishments for the Foresters in 2023 and beyond."
