The Midwest Lacrosse Conference will add Northland College to its membership in the 2021 season the league announced.

"We are incredibly excited to have Northland join the MLC," said commissioner Kelly Anderson Diercks. "Northland is a strong addition to the league and is a good fit both academically and athletically with our member institutions."

The LumberJacks men's lacrosse team began varsity competition in the 2017 season and has been competing as an independent for the past four years.

"This is an important step in the right direction for our program and long overdue" commented Northland Athletic Director Seamus Gregory. "I'm excited to bring MLC lacrosse to Ponzio Stadium, it's a premier facility in the country. I look forward to the continued development and evolution of our program. We are thankful to the new leadership team in the MLC under Commissioner Anderson Diercks, our fellow UMAC partners and Midwest institutions.  The MLC offers solid competition within our region and it gives our program the chance to compete for a league championship. Our Lacrosse program deserves a conference, it completes the student athlete experience. Our administration, board, and benefactors couldn't be more excited, the future is very bright".

Northland has competed against many members of the MLC and surrounding conferences during their time as a varsity program and looks to be a competitive program upon joining the league.

Founded in 1906, Northland College is a residential, liberal arts institution located in Ashland Wisconsin.

Northland will join the following members of the MLC in 2021: Beloit College, Cornell College, Monmouth College, North Central University and University of Northwestern, while Lake Forest will join the league in the 2022 season. The MLC began play in 2010.
