MOUNT VERNON, Iowa (Mar. 21, 2015) - The North Central College women's lacrosse team won for the third straight time on the road Saturday, emerging from a weeklong break in competition with a 19-5 victory at Cornell College on Saturday in the inaugural contest between the two teams at Ash Park.

The Cardinals (3-1) owned a 7-4 lead with 9:10 in the first half before opening up a comfortable lead and dominating the rest of the way, scoring 12 unanswered goals and nearly holding Cornell scoreless over the final 39 minutes of the game.

After the teams traded goals, North Central pulled in front with goals from Bianca Perri, Kassie Whaling and Jordyn McFarlane in a three-minute span. The Rams (0-5) narrowed the gap to 5-3 with 14:38 on the first-half clock, though Whaling and Emily Zadny followed with goals to give the Cardinals some more breathing room.

Following a Cornell goal by Sydney Cooper with 9:10 before halftime, North Central closed the period with a run of seven consecutive scores, including two each from McFarlane, Gina Fisher and Madison Maas. The Cardinals permitted just two shots on goal in the second half and did not allow the hosts to score again until just 55 seconds remained in the game.

Fisher led all scorers with four goals, while Whaling, Zadny and McFarlane each scored three. Claire Norfleet totaled a team-high three assists, as Fisher and Zadny each added two. Norfleet also contributed a career-best six draw controls, while Fisher collected five ground balls and caused four turnovers.

North Central plays at Wartburg College (1-4), coached by former Cardinal standout Danielle Fiala '13, on Sunday at 1 p.m.
