Tyler Dailey and Westhaver all added first quarter tallies to give the Bluejays a 5-0 lead after the game's first 15 minutes.
Mandli netted his second goal of the game off a feed from Carbonara early in the second quarter to put Elmhurst on top by six. Mount St. Joseph's Ryan Gallagher ended Elmhurst's scoring streak with a goal midway through the second, but Dailey netted his second goal of the contest off of a feed from
Ben Courtright to give the Bluejays a 7-1 lead at the break.
Mount St. Joseph (2-12, 1-6 MLC) scored just 1:08 into the third quarter on a Drew Stouffer man-advantage goal, but the Bluejays owned the remainder of the quarter, scoring seven straight goals to lead 14-1 after 45 minutes of action.
Nick Klenck fired home back-to-back goals just 1:03 apart to put the Bluejays up 9-2. Westhaver followed with back-to-back tallies to extend Elmhurst's lead to nine. Wassenaar tallied his second goal of the game with 3:34 left and Westhaver followed with a behind-the-back goal off a feed from
Mal Euson to make the score 13-2. Euson capped the scoring barrage with a goal with just 42 seconds left in the quarter.
Mount St. Joseph scored three straight to open the fourth quarter as Gallagher netted two goals and Stouffer added his second of the game. Wassenaar closed out the scoring with his third 28th goal of the season with just 18 seconds to play.
Elmhurst outshot Mount St. Joseph 56-22 and enjoyed a 37-15 edge in ground balls. The Bluejays also converted 14-of-15 clearing attempts and committed just 12 turnovers in the contest.
Westhaver finished the contest with five points on four goals and an assist while Wassenaar added three goals and an assist to total four points.
Alex Opyd (three assists), Klenck (two goals and an assist) and Carbonara (one goal and two assists) all finished with three points apiece in the victory. Mandl and Daley added two goals apeice for the Bluejays while
Connor Ryan and Courtright registered an assist apiece.
Ben Porter won 11-of-14 faceoffs and totaled a team-leading seven ground balls in the victory.
Tyler York made the start in goal for Elmhurst and picked up the victory, allowing just two goals while recording seven saves in 45 minutes.
Nick Bonastia played the final 15 minutes and allowed three goals while stopping two shots.
Gallagher paced the Lions in the loss with three goals while Stoffer added two goals. Mike Weil took the loss in net for Mount St. Joseph, allowing 14 goals and totaling nine saves in 44:18.
Elmhurst travels to Concordia University (Wis.) on April 16.
