MLC Report (Week 5) - Hanover Moves to 2-0 in MLC Action

WAUKESHA, WI - Hanover College ran its win streak to four straight following three wins last week.  The Panthers (6-1, 2-0 MLC) defeated Wilmington and Baldwin Wallace in non-league play and moved to 2-0 in the conference with a 17-4 win over MSOE.

Junior attacker Josh Green (Beaumaris, Australia) led the Panthers offense during the three victories. Green scored four goals with two assists in a 15-7 win over Wilmington and added three goals in HC's 13-7 triumph over Baldwin Wallace.  Against MSOE, Green netted two goals with two assists to lead the Panthers.

Hanover's offense currently ranks third in the MLC, averaging 13.43 goals per contest.

Junior goalie Addison Sears (Louisville, Ky./Dupont Manual) finished the week 3-0 in net for the Panthers. Sears allowed only 15 goals and made 21 saves during the three wins. The junior currently leads the MLC, allowing only 6.96 goals per contest.  

Hanover will face Fontbonne and Concordia (Wis.) in league play this week.

In other MLC action...

Benedictine (4-1, 1-0 MLC) opened the conference schedule with a 12-7 win at Mount St. Joseph (1-6, 0-2 MLC). Sophomore attacker Stephen Link (St. Charles, Ill./East) led the Eagles with four goals and two assists in the win.  BU also posted an 8-7 double overtime win over Trine in non-league action.  Sophomore midfielder Andrew Zmijewski (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) scored the game-winner with 1:26 remaining in the second overtime period.

Fontbonne (2-5, 1-1 MLC) earned its first league win with a 17-0 win over Defiance (0-4, 0-1 MLC) Saturday.  The shutout victory was the first ever in Fontbonne history.  The Griffins were led by six goals from freshman attacker Kyle Dahlin (Kirkwood, Mo./H.S.).

Concordia University (2-2, 1-0 MLC) won its MLC opener in thrilling fashion, beating Augustana (2-3, 0-1 MLC) 14-13 in overtime.  Senior midfielder Danny Dahms (Calgary, Alberta) scored the game-winner with 1:25 remaining in the overtime period.  Dahms finished the contest with two goals and two assists.
