MLC Report (Week 4) - Aurora Improves to 5-0 Following Pair of Wins

WAUKESHA, WI - The Aurora University men's lacrosse team improved to 5-0 on the season following a pair of wins last week.  The Spartans beat Wentworth 19-11 and Whittier 14-6 during the week of play.

Aurora junior Bailey Smith (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) led the Spartans offense during the two wins. The junior scored five goals with three ground balls in the win at Wentworth and added five goals with one assist and two ground balls in the victory over Whittier.

For the week, Smith averaged 5.0 goals, 0.5 assists and 2.5 ground balls per contest. 

Freshman goalie Tyler Lombardi (Poway, Calif./Rancho Bernardo) earned both wins in net for the Spartans.  Lombardi totaled 10 saves and three ground balls in the win over Wentworth and added nine saves in the win over Whittier.

Aurora (5-0, 0-0 MLC) will return to action on Saturday against Albion.

In other action...

Concordia University (Wis.) (4-1, 0-0 MLC) also claimed a pair of wins last week, beating Elmhurst 12-6 and Mt. St. Vincent 25-4. Freshman goalie Garrett Wohlford (Rochester, Minn./Century) totaled 16 saves with one ground ball and five goals allowed as Concordia beat Elmhurst 12-6.  Wohlford posted a save percentage of 76% in the victory. The freshman did not allow a single goal playing only the first half against Mt. St. Vincent.

Benedictine University (3-1, 0-0 MLC) earned a 15-12 triumph over Olivet Saturday. Sophomore Corbin Gett (Northfield, Minn./H.S.) led the Eagles with four goals and one assist in the win over the Comets.
