MLC Report (Week 5) - Benedictine Slips Past Beloit in MLC Opener

WAUKESHA, WI - The Benedictine University men's lacrosse team opened the MLC schedule with a narrow win over Beloit Saturday.  The 16-14 win over the Bucs (1-6, 0-1 MLC) improved the Eagles record to 5-1 on the season.

Sophomore Matthew Johnson (Rosemount, Minn./H.S.) led the Eagles during the win, scoring six goals with one assist and four ground balls in the conference opener.

Benedictine (5-1, 1-0 MLC) is scheduled to face Wells and Brockport State this weekend.

In other action...

MSOE (1-2, 0-0 MLC) earned its first win of the season, beating Clarke 18-5 last week. Sophomore Clay Gustafson (Suamico, Wis./Bay Port) scored four goals with four assists and two ground balls in the win, while sophomore Oliver Winsor (Monticello, Minn./H.S.) added three goals, seven assists and four ground balls.

Cornell College (1-5, 0-0 MLC) also claimed its first win of the season with an 8-3 victory at Dubuque Tuesday. Sophomores A.J. Fisher (Elgin, Ill./Burlington Central) and Carlos Siguenza (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Louis Park) each netted a pair of goals in the win.
