Marlenee and Thomas Earn MLC Weekly Awards

MINNEAPOLIS— The University of Northwestern's Chase Marlenee and Monmouth College's Nick Thomas have been named the Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) offensive and defensive players of the week respectively, for events March 15-21 as selected by the league's sports information directors.

Marlenee (Northfield, Minn.) led the Eagles' offense with 17 points, 12 goals, and five assists in two games this week. He was the core of a 21-5 win over Cornell on Wednesday, March 17 with seven goals and four assists for 11 points on the day. Marlenee had a six-point game against Elmhurst on Saturday, March 20 as he scored five goals and added an assist. This is the second-straight week he has received MLC Player of the Week honors.

Thomas (Elmhurst, Ill.) had a team-high six caused turnovers and added four ground balls in the 10-6 win over Northland on Saturday, March 20. He also took two shots and did not commit a turnover.

The MLC is comprised of NCAA Division III institutions located throughout the Midwest including Beloit (Beloit, Wis.), Cornell (Mt. Vernon, Iowa), Monmouth (Monmouth, Ill.), North Central (Minneapolis, Minn.), Northland (Ashland, Wis.), and Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.).
