Monmouth Sweeps MLC Weekly Awards

MINNEAPOLIS— Monmouth College's Jeff Knapp and James Nowicki have been named the Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) offensive and defensive players of the week respectively, for events March 29- April 4 as selected by the league's sports information directors.

Knapp (Nolensville, Tenn.) set a single-game school record with his eight goals against Cornell in the 13-5 win on Thursday, April 1. He scored four goals in each half, and added two ground balls in the contest. Knapp is tied for fourth in the MLC in goals, and eighth in points. The Scots remain undefeated through three games this year.

Nowicki (Westchester, Ill.) led the team with four caused turnovers and added five ground balls against the Rams. He is tied for third among all MLC players in caused turnovers, and 15th in ground balls. Monmouth remains undefeated on the season.

The MLC is comprised of NCAA Division III institutions located throughout the Midwest including Beloit (Beloit, Wis.), Cornell (Mt. Vernon, Iowa), Monmouth (Monmouth, Ill.), North Central (Minneapolis, Minn.), Northland (Ashland, Wis.), and Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.).
