Will, Simmons Earn MLC Weekly Awards

MINNEAPOLIS— The University of Northwestern's Joseph Will and Monmouth College's Teagan Simmons have been named the Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) offensive and defensive players of the week respectively, for events April 12-18 as selected by the league's sports information directors.

Will (Rice Lake, Wis.) had a career day in the 23-5 win over Northland on Wednesday, April 14. He scored a career-best six goals and added two caused turnovers. Will ranks 13th among all MLC student-athletes in goals (8) and points (11). The Eagles stand atop the MLC standings at 5-0 with one game remaining.

Simmons (Littleton, Colo.) limited Cornell to one goal on eight shots faced in 45 minutes in net in the 17-3 win on Wednesday, April 14. He leads all MLC competitors in goals allowed (5.60) and ranks second in save percentage (59.7). The Scots are in second place in the MLC with two games still to play.

The MLC is comprised of NCAA Division III institutions located throughout the Midwest including Beloit (Beloit, Wis.), Cornell (Mount Vernon, Iowa), Monmouth (Monmouth, Ill.), North Central (Minneapolis, Minn.), Northland (Ashland, Wis.), and Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.).
