Monmouth Sweeps MLC Weekly Awards

MINNEAPOLIS— Monmouth College's Kain Donohoo and Teagan Simons have been named the Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) offensive and defensive players of the week respectively, for events April 19-25 as selected by the league's sports information directors.

Donohoo (St. Charles, Ill.) led the Scots' 11-3 comeback win over Northland on Saturday, April 23 with four goals and two assists. He tallied three-straight goals to end the third and start the fourth quarter. Among all MLC competitors, Donohoo is tied for sixth in goals (14), eighth in assists (6), and fifth in points (20).

Simons (Littleton, Colo.) made 16 saves in Saturday's victory and did not allow a goal over the final 28 minutes. He ranks second among all MLC competitors in  goals allowed (6.43) and save percentage (65.1). Simons also became Monmouth's career wins leader that afternoon. This is his second consecutive MLC weekly honor.

The MLC is comprised of NCAA Division III institutions located throughout the Midwest including Beloit (Beloit, Wis.), Cornell (Mount Vernon, Iowa), Monmouth (Monmouth, Ill.), North Central (Minneapolis, Minn.), Northland (Ashland, Wis.), and Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.).
