Regular Season Champions Sweep MLC Weekly Awards

MINNEAPOLIS— The University of Northwestern's Mat Anderson and Christoph Tisdale have been named the Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) offensive and defensive players of the week respectively, for events April 26-May 2 as selected by the league's sports information directors.

Anderson (Little Canada, Minn.) scored a career-high eight goals and had nine points with an assist in the 20-9 win over Monmouth on Saturday, May 1, to claim the MLC Regular Season Championship for the first time in program history. Anderson added five ground balls and had one caused turnover. The Eagles finished undefeated (6-0) in conference play this season. 

Tisdale (Northfield, Minn.) had eight saves to lead the Eagles defense in the victory over Monmouth to give UNW the first MLC Regular Season Championship in program history. Northwestern had a perfect record (6-0) in league games this year. This is his second MLC weekly honor this season.

The MLC tournament will begin Wednesday, May 5. The winner of the semifinal game between Cornell and Monmouth will face top-seed Northwestern in the championship Saturday, May 8 at 4 p.m.

The MLC is comprised of NCAA Division III institutions located throughout the Midwest including Beloit (Beloit, Wis.), Cornell (Mount Vernon, Iowa), Monmouth (Monmouth, Ill.), North Central (Minneapolis, Minn.), Northland (Ashland, Wis.), and Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.).
