Monmouth Sweeps MLC Weekly Awards

MINNEAPOLIS— Monmouth College's Jeff Knapp and Teagan Simons have been named the Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) offensive and defensive players of the week respectively, for events February 14-20 as selected by the league's head coaches.

Knapp (Nolensville, Tenn.) led Monmouth with four goals and two assists in the 14-12 win against Marian on Saturday, Feb. 19. He recorded six of the team's 14 total points in the contest. Knapp added two caused turnovers which sealed valuable possessions to help the Scots to victory.

Simons (Littleton, Colo.) made 22 saves against Marian on Feb. 19. He led the defense to key stops and with time running down in the fourth quarter, made a big save to allow the offense to run out the clock.

This is the third career MLC weekly honor for both players.

The MLC is comprised of NCAA Division III institutions located throughout the Midwest including Cornell (Mt. Vernon, Iowa), Dubuque (Dubuque, Iowa), Lake Forest (Lake Forest, Ill.), Monmouth (Monmouth, Ill.), North Central (Minneapolis, Minn.), Northland (Ashland, Wis.), and Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.).
