Moses, Murphy Earn MLC Weekly Awards

MINNEAPOLIS— The University of Northwestern's Sam Moses received Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) offensive player of the week recognition, while Lake Forest College's Conor Murphy was named the defensive player of the week, for events April 11-17 as selected by the league's head coaches. 

Moses (Wasau, Wis.) scored five goals, four in the fourth quarter alone, and added an assist to help the Eagles earn their first conference win of the season in the 10-5 win over Monmouth Saturday. He finished with seven points (six goals and one assist), along with seven ground balls, as UNW went 2-0 on the week.

Murphy (Springfield, Mass.) was tasked with guarding Monmouth's and Cornell's top scorers, who at the time of the games were the third and first leading scorers, respectively, in the league. Murphy held them each to just two points while he contributed two assists, 13 ground balls, and six caused turnovers. The Foresters went 2-0 on the week as both contests were conference games. 

This is the second career MLC honor for Murphy and first for Moses.

The 2022 season marks the first year of competition in the MLC for Lake Forest.

The MLC is comprised of NCAA Division III institutions located throughout the Midwest including Cornell (Mt. Vernon, Iowa), Dubuque (Dubuque, Iowa), Lake Forest (Lake Forest, Ill.), Monmouth (Monmouth, Ill.), North Central (Minneapolis, Minn.), Northland (Ashland, Wis.), and Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.).
