Culligan, Kiesgen, Robinson Earn MLC Weekly Awards

MINNEAPOLIS— The University of Dubuque's Aidan Culligan received Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) offensive player of the week recognition, while Monmouth College's Gordon Kiesgen and Dubuque's Dante Robinson both earned defensive player of the week honors, for events April 18-24, as selected by the league's head coaches. 

Culligan (Eagle, Idaho) had back-to-back six point performances this week, as he helped lead the Spartans to two wins in that timeframe. He finished with eight goals and four assists over the two games. Dubuque is undefeated in MLC play heading into the final week of the regular season.

Kiesgen (Spring Grove, Ill.) had 22 ground balls, four turnovers, one goal, one assist and 40-56 in faceoffs on the. "Gordon did what he does best from the faceoff x going 40/56 and sitting at 71 win percentage on the week," said head coach Thomas VanAlstine. "He has performed game in and game out and has played a vital role in every contest this year. He added two points which not only gave us countless possessions, but also put himself on the board when we needed it most. He is a force at the 'x' and works to get better everyday."

Robinson (Glenwood, Ill.) had 10 ground balls and nine caused turnovers as the Spartans went 2-0 on the week. "These were his two best games of the season," commented head coach Kasey Burst. "He has been making huge impacts in the middle of the field, off rides, wings, and clears."

This is the second career MLC honor for Kiesgen and first for Culligan and Robinson. Kiesgen was previously honored for week two of the 2020 season. The 2022 season marks the first year of competition in the MLC for Dubuque.

The MLC is comprised of NCAA Division III institutions located throughout the Midwest including Cornell (Mt. Vernon, Iowa), Dubuque (Dubuque, Iowa), Lake Forest (Lake Forest, Ill.), Monmouth (Monmouth, Ill.), North Central (Minneapolis, Minn.), Northland (Ashland, Wis.), and Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.).
