Jussila, Doyle Earn MLC Weekly Awards

MINNEAPOLIS— Cornell College's Kyle Jussila received Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) offensive player of the week recognition, while the University of Dubuque's Ryan Doyle was named defensive player of the week, for events April 25- May 1, as selected by the league's head coaches. 

Jussila (Elk River, Minn.) had a 12-point game against Monmouth Saturday to lead the Rams to a 21-10 victory, and solidify a berth to the MLC playoffs. Kyle set Cornell's school record for single game goals (8) and assists (4). He added one assist in the 18-5 loss to eventual conference champion, Dubuque, Wednesday.

Doyle (Brighton, Mich.) helped the Spartans to two victories and their first MLC Regular Season Championship this past week. He had 14 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers in the two contests as Dubuque finished undefeated (6-0) in MLC play.

This is the third career MLC honor for Jussila and fourth for Doyle. The 2022 season marks the first year of competition in the MLC for Dubuque.

The MLC is comprised of NCAA Division III institutions located throughout the Midwest including Cornell (Mt. Vernon, Iowa), Dubuque (Dubuque, Iowa), Lake Forest (Lake Forest, Ill.), Monmouth (Monmouth, Ill.), North Central (Minneapolis, Minn.), Northland (Ashland, Wis.), and Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.).
