Donohoo, Farraday, Smirl earn MLC weekly awards

MINNEAPOLIS— Monmouth College's Kain Donohoo and the University of Dubuque's Ben Farraday both earned Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) offensive player of the week honors, while Dubuque's George Smirl received defensive player of the week honors, for events March 6-12, as selected by the league's head coaches.

Donohoo (St. Charles, Ill.) scored six goals on nine shots on goal and added an assist in Saturday's loss to Edgewood Saturday. He currently leads all MLC players with 19 goals and is second with 25 points.

Farraday (Wheaton, Ill.) led the team with five goals on five shots on goal in last Wednesday's win over Concordia Wisconsin. He currently leads his team with 10 goals on the season.

Smirl (Eagle, Colo.) played all 60 minutes and made 17 saves in last Wednesday's win over Concordia Wisconsin. He currently leads all MLC players with his 56.9 save percentage and is second with only allowing 22 goals.

This is his second career MLC weekly honor for Donohoo and first for Farraday and Smirl.

The MLC is comprised of NCAA Division III institutions located throughout the Midwest including Cornell (Mt. Vernon, Iowa), Dubuque (Dubuque, Iowa), Lake Forest (Lake Forest, Ill.), Monmouth (Monmouth, Ill.), Northland (Ashland, Wis.), and Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.).
