Parker, Doyle earn MLC weekly awards

MINNEAPOLIS— Northland College's Kyle Parker and the University of Dubuque's Ryan Doyle earned Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) offensive and defensive player of the week honors, respectively, for events March 21-26, as selected by the league's head coaches.

Parker (Freshman; Hamilton, New Zealand) scored five goals and added three assists over the two games last week for the Jacks.

"Kyle continues to help lead our offense as he creates for himself and sets others up well as you can see with his five goals and three assists this week," said head coach Jakob Wohlford. "He seems to always be in the middle of the good things that happen for our offense this season and that continued this week as we went 2-0."

Doyle (Sophomore; Brighton, Mich.) had one goal, 11 ground balls, seven caused turnovers in the two games last week for the Spartans.

"This was the first win over Augustana in our program history (Dubuque won 16-6 last Wednesday)," said head coach Kasey Burst. "Augustana had 29 turnovers in that game, and Ryan was huge against them in our 10 man. Despite our loss to Illinois Wesleyan Saturday, he had a great individual game guarding their best player, and scored a goal against them for the second year in a row."

This is the first career MLC honor for Parker and sixth overall for Doyle, including the second this season.

The MLC is comprised of NCAA Division III institutions located throughout the Midwest including Cornell (Mt. Vernon, Iowa), Dubuque (Dubuque, Iowa), Lake Forest (Lake Forest, Ill.), Monmouth (Monmouth, Ill.), Northland (Ashland, Wis.), and Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.).
