Rubright, Adkins, Murphy earn MLC weekly awards

MINNEAPOLIS— Lake Forest College's Bode Rubright was named the Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) offensive player of the week, and the University of Northwestern's Ryan Adkins and Lake Forest College's Conor Murphy earmed defensive players of the week honors for events March 27-April 2, as selected by the league's head coaches.

Rubright (Sophomore; Salisbury, Vt.) scored six goals on seven shots on goal and added one assist in Saturday's 22-3 win over Northland in the MLC opener. Among all league players, he is fifth in goals (22) and seventh in points (27).

Adkins (Junior; St. Michael, Minn.) was 10-10 on faceoffs in Saturday's 10-6 win over Cornell to open league play. He added a goal and one ground ball. Adkins is fifth in faceoffs won among all MLC players (58).

Murphy (Sophomore; Springfield, Mass.) had seven caused turnovers and five ground balls in Saturday's game against Northland. He leads the league in caused turnovers (36).

This is the first career MLC honor for Rubright and Adkins. This is the third career MLC honor for Murphy, and first this season.

The MLC is comprised of NCAA Division III institutions located throughout the Midwest including Cornell (Mt. Vernon, Iowa), Dubuque (Dubuque, Iowa), Lake Forest (Lake Forest, Ill.), Monmouth (Monmouth, Ill.), Northland (Ashland, Wis.), and Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.).
