Culligan, McHenry earn MLC men’s weekly awards

MINNEAPOLIS— The University of Dubuque's Aidan Culligan and the University of Northwestern's Robert McHenry were named the Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) men's offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for events April 22-28 as selected by the league's head coaches.

Culligan (Eagle, Id.) scored five goals and added one assist in Saturday's MLC win over Cornell. "Aidan led our team in goals, and his first two helped us build an early lead," said head coach Kasey Burst. "He had an incredible shooting day scoring five goals on seven shots and only committed one turnover."

McHenry (Crystal, Minn.) played all 60 minutes in the net and made eight saves for a saves percentage of 100%. "Rob posted his first career shutout on senior day," said head coach Jay Mayes. "What a great accomplishment for him and our defense against Northland."

This is the third career MLC weekly honor for Culligan and first for McHenry.

The MLC is comprised of NCAA Division III institutions located throughout the Midwest including Cornell (Mt. Vernon, Iowa), Dubuque (Dubuque, Iowa), Lake Forest (Lake Forest, Ill.), Northland (Ashland, Wis.), and Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.).
