Steve Larson Named MLC-MWLC Commissioner

WAUKESHA, WI - It is with great pleasure that the Midwest Lacrosse Conference and Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference announces the appointment of Dr. G. Steven Larson as the new conference commissioner.

"I am very honored and excited about the opportunity to serve as commissioner of the MLC & MWLC," Larson said. "This is an exciting time for NCAA Division III lacrosse in the Midwest and particularly our two conferences as we go through the changes and transitions with our membership. The growth of intercollegiate lacrosse in the Midwest has been amazing and only looks to continue as we look at the landscape."

Dr. Larson presently is serving as Commissioner of the both Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference and the Northern Collegiate Hockey Associations for both Men & Women.  He just completed his term as President of the NCAA Division III Commissioner's Association.

Prior to working exclusively at the conference level, Larson served as Director of Athletics and Head Men's Basketball Coach at Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin for 20 years where he retired as the all-time winningest coach in both Edgewood College and Lake Michigan Conference history.  He was also the Commissioner of the former Lake Michigan Conference.   The athletic directors of the LMC honored him as the Administrator of the Year for 10 consecutive years. 

Steve has served on the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Committee as both National Chair and Midwest Regional Chair.   In addition he served as a representative to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Congress.   He has been inducted into the Halls of Fame for Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, in addition to both the Edgewood College and Menasha St. Mary Central High School Athletic Halls of Fame.  He is presently serving on the Wisconsin Muscular Dystrophy Association executive committee.  He has an undergraduate degree in English and Education, a Master's Degree in Education Administration and a Ph. D. in Education Administration.
