Hamline University's Dana Almquist and Aurora University's Reilly Armstrong have been named the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference offensive and defensive players of the week for events of April 23-29, as selected by the league's sports information directors.
Almquist (Hugo, Minn.) showed she had recovered totally from a foot injury that kept her out of action for a month as the Pipers stretched their winning streak to 11 games in a row and wrapped up the regular season MWLC championship last week. The senior attacker scored five times in the first half against the University of Northwestern-St. Paul and had two in each half against Monmouth College.
Armstrong (Houston, Texas) was strong in net as the Spartans clinched an appearance in the MWLC tournament with an 11-4 win over Loras College. Earlier in the week, AU defeated Benedictine University 15-5. The sophomore goalie had 10 saves while allowing only nine goals.
