Aurora University's Claire Carlson and Monmouth College's Olivia Matlock have been named the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference offensive and defensive players of the week for events of March 2-8, as selected by the league's sports information directors.
Carlson (Blaine, Minn.) had 15 points--11 goals and four assists--and added five ground balls, eight draw controls and a caused turnover in a pair of wins on the west coast at Willamette University, 16-1, and Linfield College, 22-4.
Matlock (Lee's Summit, Mo.) came up with 15 big saves in Saturday's 13-11 win over Illinois Tech, Monmouth's first program win over the Scarlet Hawks. The sophomore goalkeeper had opened the week with a 12-save effort in a 13-1 loss to Illinois Wesleyan University. For the week, she totaled 27 saves with a .529 save percentage while picking up her first win in goal this season.
