Loras Sweeps MWLC Weekly Awards

MINNEAPOLIS—Loras College's Clare Brunn and Leah Hood have been named the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) offensive and defensive players of the week respectively, for events March 8-14 as selected by the league's sports information directors.

Brunn (Rochester, Minn.) scored seven goals, just one shy of her career-best, in the 21-8 victory over Edgewood College on Wednesday, March 10. Brunn currently leads the MWLC in goals scored (12), while the Loras offense leads the league with 45 goals through its first three games. 

Hood (Oaklawn, Ill.) led the team with four caused turnovers and four ground balls in the win over Edgewood. She is third among MWLC competitors in caused turnovers (5), while the Duhawks are second in ground balls (68).

The MWLC is comprised of NCAA Division III institutions located throughout the Midwest including Augsburg (Minneapolis, Minn.), Beloit (Beloit, Wis.), Cornell (Mt. Vernon, Iowa), Hamline (Saint Paul, Minn.), Loras (Dubuque, Iowa), Monmouth (Monmouth, Ill.), Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.), and Wartburg (Waverly, Iowa).
