Hamline Sweeps MWLC Weekly Awards

MINNEAPOLIS—Hamline University's Ashley Hessler and Alyssa Bryan-Jeffries have been named the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) offensive and defensive players of the week respectively, for events March 15-21 as selected by the league's sports information directors.

Hessler (Farmington, Minn.) tallied 10 points on the week, which included eight in the win over Northwestern on Wednesday, March 17. She set a new single-game assist record for Hamline with five against the Eagles. Hessler assisted on two goals in the 9-6 loss on Saturday, March 20 to Illinois Wesleyan. She finished with 12 ground balls and three caused turnovers on the week.

Bryan-Jeffries (Bloomington, Minn.) had four saves against Northwestern and 16 in the close loss to Illinois Wesleyan. She added nine ground balls and two turnovers on the week. Bryan-Jeffries currently leads the league in saves (57) and is fourth in save percentage (52.3%).

The MWLC is comprised of NCAA Division III institutions located throughout the Midwest including Augsburg (Minneapolis, Minn.), Beloit (Beloit, Wis.), Cornell (Mt. Vernon, Iowa), Hamline (Saint Paul, Minn.), Loras (Dubuque, Iowa), Monmouth (Monmouth, Ill.), Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.), and Wartburg (Waverly, Iowa).
