Sherry, Seykora Earn MWLC Weekly Awards

MINNEAPOLIS— The University of Northwestern's Talia Sherry and Augsburg University's Maddie Seykora have been named the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) offensive and defensive players of the week respectively, for events April 12-18 as selected by the league's sports information directors.

Sherry (Apple Valley, Minn.) had a big week with 14 goals, six assists, 13 ground balls, 17 draw controls and 11 caused turnovers in two MWLC victories this week. In the 16-7 win over Wartburg on Wednesday, April 14, she had six goals, two assists, nine ground balls, and seven caused turnovers. Sherry had eight goals, four assists, four ground balls, 14 draw controls, and four caused turnovers In the 20-15 win over Cornell on Saturday, April 17.

Seykora (Owatonna, Minn.) had 21 saves in goal over two games this week. She tallied seven saves in the 18-6 loss to conference leader Hamline on Wednesday, April 14. Against Loras on Saturday, April 20, Seykora had 14 saves which included key saves late in the game which halted a further comeback by the Duhawks. This win pushed the Auggies into a tie for second place on the MWLC standings. 

The MWLC is comprised of NCAA Division III institutions located throughout the Midwest including Augsburg (Minneapolis, Minn.), Beloit (Beloit, Wis.), Cornell (Mount Vernon, Iowa), Hamline (St. Paul, Minn.), Loras (Dubuque, Iowa), Monmouth (Monmouth, Ill.), Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.), and Wartburg (Waverly, Iowa).
